COVID-19 UPDATE

With regards to the ongoing Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) endemic phase, we will continue to work towards ensuring that, due to any of our actions and operations, no individual be it an adult or child will find themselves at risk of increased exposure to the virus.

Little Planet maintains a current and thorough Novel Coronavirus Policy and Procedure. Due to the fluid nature of the virus’s impact, this document is required to undergo regular review with advice from the Malaysian and Singaporean Ministries of Health.

RISK, MANAGING RISK AND RISK ASSESSMENT

Risk, be it real or ‘perceived’ is undeniably an element in any outdoor education environment. The aspect of ‘challenge’ whether physical, psychological, or indeed a combination of both, often contains elements of risk and it is often the overcoming of ‘risk’ that leads to the most valuable learning experiences with challenge-based outdoor education activities. Whilst risk can never be truly eliminated, given the correct approach it can be reduced to a level that is acceptable;

The selection of staff who have the relevant skills, qualifications, and experience plays an elemental role in establishing and maintaining a safe environment for outdoor learning. Additional in-house training on safety, inspection, operating procedures and advance first aid helps to ensure that Little Planet operates as a closely-knit family with safety as its number one concern.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING

Little Planet is committed to the prevention of child abuse and to the protection of children in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Protecting the welfare of children is the role of every professional who comes into contact with children at Little Planet. This includes all staff knowing how to respond to suspected cases of child abuse and neglect and the process for reporting suspected cases to the relevant persons.

We are committed to safe recruitment practices and to the implementation of rigorous procedures for the appointment of all members of staff.

It is imperative that all staff members are kept up to date and informed of required procedures. To that end, we ensure all staff members are updated annually on procedures relating to child abuse and neglect as well as any changes to the Little Planet reporting procedures.
