FAQS

Please see below for the answers to many of the more common questions that we are asked.

If you have any further questions then please use the ‘contact us’ page and we will reply as soon as we can.

Can my child bring a mobile phone?

Campers are not permitted to carry mobile phones. In the event of an emergency, parents can contact Little Planet administration and have their child contact them immediately. In the event that a Camper needs to contact their parent, Little Planet staff will facilitate this process.

Do you cater for vegetarians?

As an international provider we recognise the importance of understanding the significance and variety of our Campers dietary needs. Regardless of the destination or the nature of the Little Planet experience that we embark upon, we will always ensure that our campers’ dietary requirements are catered for diligently.

Does my child need spending money and how much?

Campers will never be required to carry or pay cash for any elements of a Little Planet Experience. That being said, it is not uncommon for groups to have brief opportunities to purchase snacks or small souvenirs, particularly whilst in transit. A small amount of spending money is permitted for these purposes, however we cannot be held responsible for lost, stolen or misplaced items held by campers. With this in mind, we would ask that amounts of cash remain small and valuables such as jewelry etc. are left at home.

How do I communicate with my child?

If for any reason you need to communicate with your child, Little Planet Administration can be contacted at anytime and in turn have your child contact you. In the event of any type of emergency whilst on trip, parents will be contacted immediately.

Anything other than emergency contact between parents and Campers is strongly discouraged. The cumulative impact of parents attempting to contact their children throughout the trip results in major disruptions and can substantially degrade the experience for everyone involved.

How do I pay?

If payments are being made to Little Planet directly rather than through school or otherwise; acceptable methods include online transfer, cheque or money order.

Should I send food with my child?

As travel times often fluctuate and delays are not uncommon, we do suggest that your child brings a small quantity of snacks or a packed lunch for the voyage. It is not necessary to send along excessive amounts of food to be eaten over the course of the trip.

Should I send medication with my child?

If your child takes prescribed medication, please indicate as such on the registration form and bring any medical issues to the attention of Little Planet Administration.

What are the Little Planet camper to staff ratios?

This fluctuates depending on the nature of the trip, activities and age of participants. For any adventurous activity, ratios do not exceed 1:12.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

The nature of accommodation on a Little Planet trip varies from hotel rooms, to beachfront cabins to long-houses to tents.

However, regardless of the nature of the accommodation, standards are maintained, boys and girls are separated and the safety and security of the group is always considered as our top priority.

What is your refund policy?

All refunds must be supported by documented reasons for cancelation and processed through the travel insurance included in the program fee.

What medical facilities are available?

Although it is not uncommon for us to venture into remote areas, all of the locations that we travel through have been critically evaluated and emergency response and evacuation plans put in place. In addition to diligent planning, and strong local support networks, all of our Campers are required to possess comprehensive travel insurance including evacuation services and remote medical assistance.

What qualifications do Instructors have?

All instructing teams posses a level of certification, experience and competence far exceeding the requirements of the activities carried out on any of our trips. All lead instructors possess First Aid and CPR certifications.

Who will organise my child’s Visa?

The responsibility of ensuring that all required visas and travel documents are arranged and in order prior to departure, is that of the parents.

It is important to remember that most countries will require passports to be valid for a minimum of six months from the date departure and consider the fact that many obtaining visas and passport renewals can often take up to 7-10 working days.

Who will take care of my child’s travel documents?

Travel documents will be collected by teaching staff or Little Planet Instructors and are placed in secure storage upon arrival at our destination.

Will there be teachers present?

Any Little Planet trip organised as a school activity or outing will have teaching staff present throughout the trip.

Summer Camps and other specialty programs run independently by Little Planet do not have teaching staff present, pastoral responsibilities are taken on by the Little Planet Instructors.
